Cricket Association Invites Bids for T20 Mumbai League Season 3 Team Operations
Mumbai,
April 2, 2025: The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has officially released a
tender document inviting bids from interested and eligible parties for the
rights to operate two new teams in the upcoming third season of the T20 Mumbai
League.
Established
in 2018, the T20 Mumbai League has grown into one of India’s premier domestic
franchise-based T20 tournaments. The league has served as a crucial platform
for emerging cricketers, showcasing talents such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam
Dube, Tushar Deshpande, and Shams Mulani, who have all advanced to higher
levels of the sport.
Returning
after a six-year hiatus, the much-anticipated third season is set to begin on
May 27, 2025, reigniting the passion of Mumbai’s cricketing community. The
tournament will feature eight teams, including six existing franchises—North
Mumbai Panthers, ARCS Andheri, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Namo Bandra
Blasters, Eagle Thane Strikers, and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs—along
with two newly introduced teams.
MCA
sees this as a golden opportunity for new stakeholders to join and contribute
to the league’s growth. Speaking about the league’s impact, MCA Secretary Abhay
Hadap stated, “The T20 Mumbai League has played a crucial role in identifying,
developing, and promoting cricket talent at the grassroots level. Beyond
serving as a launchpad for young players, it has significantly contributed to
the city’s cricketing ecosystem. As we welcome new franchise owners, we aim to
further elevate the league’s status. Their involvement will be key in bringing
fresh vision and investment, ultimately enhancing opportunities for players,
fans, and stakeholders. We eagerly look forward to collaborating with bidders
who share our commitment to the league’s future.”
The
bidding process is now open to interested and eligible parties. Prospective
franchise owners can obtain the bid document from the MCA office at Wankhede
Stadium in Mumbai upon making a non-refundable payment of ₹1
lakh via demand draft in favor of the Mumbai Cricket Association. The documents
will be available for collection from April 1 to April 7, between 11 AM and 6
PM.
With
the introduction of two new teams, the third season of T20 Mumbai League
promises to be bigger and better, offering fresh opportunities for cricketing
talent and further solidifying Mumbai’s reputation as a hub for exciting T20
action.
