Police Clinch Thrilling 9-Run Victory in RCF T20 Cricket Tournament

April 2: Greater Mumbai Police SC 'A' put up a determined performance to secure
a thrilling 9-run victory against Jain Irrigation SC in a closely fought
first-round match of the RCF T20 Cricket Tournament 2025 for the Dr. Babasaheb
Ambedkar Cup. The tournament is being organized by Rashtriya Chemicals &
Fertilizers (RCF) Sports Club under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket
Association (MCA) and was played at the RCF Colony ground in Chembur on
Wednesday.
Batting
first, Greater Mumbai Police SC 'A' posted a competitive total of 168 all out
in their 20 overs. Captain and opening batsman Sunil Patil led from the front
with a stellar knock of 49 runs off just 23 balls, hitting seven boundaries and
two sixes. Valuable contributions from Tanish Meher (34) and Harsh Aghav (25)
further strengthened their total. Jain Irrigation SC’s bowlers Shubham Sharma
(2/22), Shivram (2/25), and Amit Pandey (2/41) shared the wickets among them.
In
response, Mumbai Police’s left-arm spinner Aryaraj Nikam bowled a match-winning
spell, taking 3 wickets for 23 runs, restricting Jain Irrigation SC to 159 for
8 in their 20 overs. Aditya Pabalkar (30), Prateek Yadav (28), and Omkar
Malekar (27) tried to steer their team towards victory but fell short in the
chase. Aryaraj Nikam was adjudged ‘Man of the Match’ for his excellent bowling
performance and was presented with the award by M. Ramesh, ED (Purchase), RCF.
In
the second match of the day, Mafatlal Sports Club registered a comfortable
8-wicket win over Mumbai Port Trust. Batting first, Mumbai Port Trust managed
152 for 8 in 20 overs. Mafatlal SC, in reply, chased down the target
effortlessly, scoring 153 for the loss of just 2 wickets in 17.3 overs.

Cricket Club – 153 for 2 in 17.3 overs (Vishwajit Jagdale 71* (38-balls,
8x4, 3x6), Aditya Rawat 40 (27-balls, 4x4, 3x6), Sai 39*). Result:
Mafatlal Cricket Club won by 8 wickets.
