Mumbai : India’s women’s No. 1 Anahat Singh showcased her dominance as she triumphed over Helen Tang to clinch the JSW Indian Open title in spectacular fashion at the lawns of the Bombay Gymkhana on Friday evening. Supported by JSW, this victory marked the 17-year-old’s sixth consecutive title.

 


Anahat Singh's Commanding Victory

In the women’s singles final, India’s teenage sensation Anahat Singh displayed impeccable form against Hong Kong’s Helen Tang. The first set was a closely fought battle, but Anahat held firm to take an early lead. From there, the third seed took complete control, preventing Tang from settling into the match. With swift and precise gameplay, Anahat wrapped up the next two sets in just 13 minutes, sealing a commanding 3-0 (11-9, 11-5, 11-8) victory in 24 minutes. This win adds 300 ranking points to her tally and marks her 11th career title.

 

Kareem El Torkey Triumphs in the Men’s Final

In the men’s singles final, Abhay Singh faced a formidable challenge against Egypt’s Kareem El Torkey. The contest began with high-intensity squash, with Kareem edging out a tight first set before comfortably taking the second. After a brief break, Abhay mounted a strong comeback to claim the third set. The fourth set saw a fierce battle, with Abhay digging deep to push Kareem to the brink. However, the Egyptian held his nerve in the crucial moments, securing a 3-1 (12-10, 11-4, 7-11, 12-10) victory in an 84-minute thriller. Kareem’s win also earned him 500 ranking points.

 

A Unique Viewing Experience at the JSW Indian Open

The JSW Indian Open, India’s first-ever PSA Squash Copper tournament, provided fans with a unique spectacle, as the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals were played on an outdoor glass court at the Bombay Gymkhana.
