Harshit and Prisha Win Double Crowns

Mumbai, November 19: Harshit Mahimkar and Prisha Shah clinched double titles in the Yonex Sunrise-Maharashtra State Open Badminton Tournament 2024, held at the Willingdon Sports Club courts. Harshit emerged victorious in both the men’s and boys' under-17 singles, while Prisha claimed top honors in the women’s singles and girls' under-17 singles. The tournament, organized by Court Champions 24 in association with the Greater Mumbai Badminton Association (GMBA), was conducted under the auspices of the Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) and hosted by the NSCI.

 

In the men’s singles final, the unseeded GMBA shuttler Harshit displayed great character and composure to hand fourth-seeded Soham Phatak a comfortable 21-12, 21-17 defeat. Later, Harshit, seeded second, took on the top-seeded Tanay Mehendale in the boys' under-17 singles final. With clever tactics and superb form, Harshit triumphed 21-7, 21-13 to complete a memorable double.

 

In the women’s singles final, Prisha Shah overcame Devanshi Shinde 21-18, 21-10 to secure her first title. In the girls' under-17 singles final, Prisha, the second seed, defeated Khushi Pahwa 21-16, 21-16 to claim her second crown of the tournament.
