MUMBAI, July 8 : Maha Indoor Cricket Association (MICA) and Maha Mumbai Indoor Cricket Sports Association (MICSA) felicitated the players who played for India and made outstanding achievements on July 7 at Garware Club, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Dronacharya awardee cricket coach Dinesh Lad felicitated these players. It was a tribute to the dedication, hard work and sportsmanship shown by the indoor cricketers. Prior to the felicitation
ceremony, Dronacharya Awardee cricket coach Dinesh Lad was also felicitated by
Dattatray Vedak (Ex-President, Mumbai Women's Cricket Assoc. and Ex-Managing
Committee Member, Garware Club) from Maha Indoor Cricket Association (MICA) and
Mahamumbai Indoor Cricket Sports Association (MICSA).
In responding to this
felicitation, he said that India will get talented players due to indoor
cricket. He also said that looking at the agility and skill required for
playing indoor cricket the fitness of the players play an important role. He
also explained that because of indoor cricket, the horizons of cricket players
have opened up to play a different kind of cricket. Dinesh Lad announced that
he will support and also work for the growth and promotion of indoor cricket.
The slogan "Let's play indoor cricket" was also announced as the official slogan to promote indoor cricket. Dronacharya awardee Dinesh Lad in his speech said that he was happy to see professional players like bankers, software engineers, airline employees, crypto trainers, businessmen taking part in international level masters category and cultivating interest in this unique format of indoor cricket.
It was also announced that this
year the World Masters Series for Men and Women will be held in Colombo, Sri
Lanka from 27th September to 5th October.
Around 15 players from Maha Indoor Cricket Association
(Maharashtra) represented India from various groups from Indian Indoor Sports
Foundation (IISF) with the approval of World Indoor Cricket Federation (WICF).
Interestingly, Prashant Karia held the post of India's vice-captain of the
(over 40) team in the recently
held England-Asia Cup tournament. Mumbai's Jayesh Salgaonkar coached India for
the Men's open group in the same tournament. While Prakash Rathore held the
position of coach of the Indian Masters team of over 40 years. It was a proud moment for the Maharashtra
Indoor Cricket Association.
Along with this, Naresh Khurana,
Anshul Sharma, Gaurav Kambli, Rakesh Chavan, Vinod Singh, Haresh Khatri, Sameer
Shah, Zubin Hakim, Amit Gheji and Manish Mittal (Masters over 40 category) have represented the Indian team. While
Nachiket Kambli and Shubham Khot represented India in the Mens open group from
the development team.

Ajay Naik, President (IISF), Shri. Milind Punja, General Secretary (IISF),
Cetric Joe, Prasanna Kumar, B. V. Acharya (CEO, Garware Club House) Veena
Paralkar, Jyoti Satghare, Vinaya Toraskar and D. B. Vedak (Former President,
Mumbai Women's Cricket Assoc.) and Jay Kowly (Boxer and Vice President –
Maharashtra Olympic Assoc.).
