Sri Lanka won against Indian men by 85 runs 

Women's title went to the England Team

 

Colombo: Sri Lanka won against India in the final match of the England-Asia Cup Indoor Cricket Tournament organized by the Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association with the approval of the World Indoor Cricket Federation (WICF) today. Sri Lanka came out victorious against India by 85 runs in this match.



In the final match, Sri Lanka won the toss and scored 86 runs in 16 overs while batting first. In the beginning, India had a grip on the match. But while batting, the Indian team found it hard to face the Sri Lankan bowling attack. In fact, Sri Lanka scored 99 and 103 runs against India in the league stage but India managed to restrict Sri Lanka to 86 runs in the final match. But India had to face a big defeat in this match as the batsmen struggled to get runs on the score board. 



Sri Lanka's four pairs scored 6, 29, 36 and 15 runs respectively. But in reply India's four pairs scored -11, -9, 6 and 15 runs respectively and India lost by 85 runs. In this match Suraj Reddy (14 runs and 1 wicket), Daivik Rai (6 runs and 1 wicket) and Karthik Subramanian (1 run and 4 wickets) fought hard in the match. Sri Lanka's Chandima Abeycoon (20 runs and 3 wickets), Dilsara Sasanka (17 runs and 2 wickets), Captain Kolitha Hapuarachchi  (12 runs and 2 wickets), Andy Solomons (16 runs and 2 wickets) and Rumesh Perera (2 runs and 4 wickets) played well to get make their team  victorious.

 


In the Women's Final, England defeated Sri Lanka 135-53 by 82 runs to lift the trophy. In this match, England's Una Paramjothy (23 runs and 3 wickets), Lucy Weston (23 runs and 1 wicket), Malorie Short (20 runs and 1 wicket) and Aimee Colquhoun (17 runs and 3 wickets) performed to get their team a victory over the Sri Lankan Ladies Team.  Sri Lanka's Dhunuji Fernando (22 runs), Mihidi Sanudini (16 runs and 1 wicket) put up a gallant effort from Sri Lankan side.
